Welcome to the Marion County Dog Warden’s website. This office is operated under the direction of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Our mission is to protect the public from canine-related problems. Our goal is to enforce and enact effective, efficient and humane dog control services for the health and safety of the public and their animals.
We work closely with organizations and groups who have a mutual interest in our dogs. It is our goal to educate our county residents on dog ownership accountability as well as promote collaboration with dog control programs in the best interest of all involved.

Confinement of Dogs- O.R.C. 955.22 (Running at Large)
The owner or keeper of every dog shall at all times keep such dog either confined upon the premises of the owner or under reasonable control of some person, except when lawfully engaged in hunting accompanied by an owner or handler.
Registration of Dogs- O.R.C. 955.01
Every person who owns keeps or harbors a dog more than 3 months of age or older shall have a tag. Registration can be purchased at the Marion County Auditor’s Office. The Auditor’s Office can be reached by telephone at 740-223-4020.
