Position: Engineer
The Marion County Engineer is accepting applications for the position of Engineer. Anyone interested may file a written application with the County Engineer at the County Building, 222 West Center Street, Marion, Ohio 43302. The responsibilities of this position include working under administrative direction, is responsible for performing a variety of professional engineering work in the field and office; performs other related duties as required. This position requires knowledge of the principles and theories of civil engineering; knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in public works construction; knowledge of surveying as related to the development of preliminary plans for construction work; knowledge of hydraulic and structural design; ability to prepare specifications and technical reports; ability to write and speak effectively; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public; and the ability to supervise others.

Desirable qualifications for employment include any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed above. An example of an acceptable qualification for this position is:
Completion of the twelfth school grade and five years of experience in the design and construction of roads, bridges, and culverts. College training in civil engineering may be substituted for four years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis. The possession of a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license is required.

Position: Survey/Drainage Technician
The Marion County Engineer is accepting applications for Survey/Drainage Technician position. Anyone interested may file a written application with the County Engineer at the County Building, 222 West Center Street, Marion, Ohio 43302. The responsibilities of this position include working under general supervision of the Engineer/Deputy Engineer, is responsible for conducting or supervising a field survey party making preliminary surveys for proposed construction work; performing skilled drafting and inspecting new construction work for conformance to plans, specifications and proper construction methods; and performs other related duties as required. This position requires knowledge of surveying as related to the development of preliminary plans for construction work; knowledge of structural design; ability to prepare specifications and technical reports; ability to understand and interpret legal property descriptions; ability to make corrections on the master tax map; ability to use current drafting instruments; ability to research property records; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public; ability to maintain records and prepare reports; ability to write and speak effectively; and the ability to supervise others.

Position: Highway Maintenance Supervisor (Roadway)
The Marion County Engineer is accepting applications for Highway Maintenance Supervisor (Roadway) position. Anyone interested may file a written application with the County Engineer at the County Building, 222 West Center Street, Marion, Ohio 43302. This position requires the completion of secondary education or equivalent; six (6) years of experience operating construction equipment; ability to interpret maps, and construction plans, understand and communicate general instructions; perform manual labor for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions; possession of valid Commercial Driver's license class B or ability to obtain within 12 months, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Must possess or ability to obtain within 12 months a valid Ohio Class B CDL driver's license and maintain insurability under the County's vehicle insurance policy. Possession or ability to obtain a "Commercial Pesticide Applicator" with the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture is desirable.

The Marion County Engineer is accepting applications for one or more Equipment Operator 1 positions. The job requires the employee to be exposed to all weather conditions associated with this location in Ohio. Overtime is an expected part of this position and can happen at the time Nature determines.
