Seeking motivated, independent self-starter to serve as Legal Assistant to the Common Pleas Court Magistrate.

Responsibilities include a large volume of civil pleadings and entries; preparing court entries and other documents; monitoring case activities; scheduling Court hearings; various jury issues including managing jury questionnaires, and scheduling/paying jurors; and interacting with attorneys, civil litigants, witnesses, crime victims, other court staff, probation officers, potential jurors, and member of the public.

Desired skills/experience:  Paralegal training or related experience working in a Court of law office setting; excellent word processing ability, highly organized; strong communication skills; ability to work independently, commitment to serving the  public.

The Common Pleas Court, General Division, consists of two Judges, who preside over criminal felony cases and civil litigation, and over the Magistrate. Due to the small staff size, the Legal Assistant must work independently to full fill a wide variety of duties and fill in for the Court Bailiff and the Judge’s legal assistants as necessary.
