On 04/05/19 at approximately 6pm a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling in the 1500 block of Marion Mt. Gilead Road when the deputy observed a vehicle operating in a reckless manner and then observed other traffic violations and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle then fled as the deputy pursued it with his lights and siren on. The pursuit lasted a short time until the vehicle became stuck in a ditch on US 23 North at Marion Williamsport Rd. The driver then fled the vehicle on foot, Sheriff Bailey and additional deputies who responded to the area to assist the deputy apprehended the driver who fled on foot. The passenger remained in the vehicle and was questioned and released.
The driver, identified as 31 year old Justin Wesley Davis with a last known address of 1279 Carbone Drive Columbus, Ohio was suspected of ingesting methamphetamine and other illegal narcotics and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Davis will be incarcerated at the Multi County Correctional Center following his treatment. The driver of the vehicle had thrown a revolver from the vehicle during the pursuit and K9 Viking and her handler located the firearm and secured it. Davis was also found to have three felony warrants for Grand Theft from Dublin, Receiving Stolen Property from Westerville, and Larceny from Franklin County. Davis will face additional charges of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Improper Handling of Firearms in a Motor Vehicle, Having Weapons While Under Disability, Failure to Comply with the Order or Signal of a Police Officer, two counts of Tampering with Evidence, Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments, and several traffic violations as a result of the pursuit.

This individual already has three outstanding arrest warrants from three different jurisdictions for felony offenses. Observing this individual and then apprehending him was great work by our team and prevents him from committing further crimes in our community.”
