National Police Memorial Week 2020

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week.

This year’s National Police Week is being severely hampered due to the crisis that we are facing here in Marion, the State of Ohio, and throughout the country. Because of this, public gatherings and ceremonies have been cancelled during National Police Week 2020. The Marion County Sheriff’s wants to honor, remember and celebrate American law enforcement. We want to especially honor the fallen heroes who are memorialized on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, which will have 146 new names added to it from 2019 line of duty deaths. Lastly, we want to remember Marion County’s fallen heroes who will forever be in our hearts and their families in our prayers.

Sheriff Bailey would like to say a special thank you to the men and women of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office as well as all law enforcement officers who serve our community.
